Badrinath Temple
About Badrinath Temple
Badrinath Temple, officially known as Badarinath Temple or Badarinarayana Temple, stands as a premier Hindu pilgrimage destination in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. Revered as one of the 108 Divya Desams sacred to Vaishnavism, the temple enshrines Lord Vishnu in his Badrinath form. The shrine operates under a six-month seasonal schedule due to severe Himalayan weather conditions, welcoming devotees from late April through early November. The temple recorded 2.8 million visits in just two months during 2022, underscoring its significance as one of India's most visited pilgrimage centers. As a cornerstone of the Char Dham Yatra—the four most sacred pilgrimage sites in Hindu tradition—Badrinath Temple draws seekers from across the globe. The temple is believed to have been established by Adi Guru Shankaracharya and is currently managed by the Shri Badarinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), constituted under the 1939 Act.
