Chandi Devi Temple
About Chandi Devi Temple
Chandi Devi Temple stands as one of the five sacred pilgrimage sites of Haridwar, located at the summit of Neel Parvat within the Shivalik mountain range. The goddess worshipped here represents the combined divine form of Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Durga—the fierce manifestation of Parvati. According to tradition, Adi Shankaracharya established this temple during the 8th century, and the idol was installed by a revered priest. The temple gained prominence as a major pilgrimage destination in 1929 when the King of Kashmir, Suchat Singh, elevated its status and significance. The temple's architecture offers commanding views of Haridwar from its hilltop location, attracting thousands of devotees daily who seek blessings from the goddess.
