Chandi Devi Temple, Haridwar
About Chandi Devi Temple, Haridwar
Situated on the eastern summit of the Sivalik Hills in Uttarakhand, Chandi Devi Temple represents one of the five principal pilgrimage sites within Haridwar. The goddess worshipped here embodies the combined divine feminine energy of Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Durga. While the murti installation dates to the 8th century through the efforts of the revered philosopher Adi Shankaracharya, the temple's architectural prominence was established in 1929 when King Suchat Singh of Kashmir elevated it to a major devotional center. The temple commands panoramic views of Haridwar from its hilltop location, accessible via ropeway, and attracts thousands of devotees throughout the year, with particularly intense visitation during the Navratri festival season.
