Chengalamma Parameshwari Temple
About Chengalamma Parameshwari Temple
This sacred temple, believed to be over 1,000 years old, originated when villagers discovered the goddess's idol along the Kalangi River. According to local legend, the idol could not be lifted until proper rituals were performed, marking the beginning of formal worship at this site. The goddess is worshipped in three divine forms—Mahakali (the protector), Mahasaraswati (the giver of knowledge), and Mahalakshmi (the bestower of wealth)—making it a powerful Shakti shrine. The temple features traditional South Indian architecture with a prominent Rajagopuram, spacious mandapa, and a 400-year-old sacred tree within its premises. Devotees visit seeking protection from negative forces, family harmony, business success, health, wealth, and blessings for children. The temple attracts thousands from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and southern regions, particularly during major festivals like the Annual Jatara and Navaratri.
