Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga
About Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga
Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga stands as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, representing the most revered abodes of Lord Shiva in Hindu tradition. Situated in the historic city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, the temple occupies a sacred location along the holy Shipra river. The central deity, Shiva in lingam form, is considered Swayambhu—self-manifested—and is believed to generate its own spiritual power (Shakti) inherently, distinguishing it from other lingams that are ritually consecrated and empowered through mantra.
