Shiv Temple
About Shiv Temple
The temple features architectural elements characteristic of Hindu temple design from its period. Visitors will notice beautifully carved pillars and intricate inscriptions throughout the structure. These carved details reflect the craftsmanship typical of temples built during the Solanki era. The temple's design and serene setting are understood by devotees to evoke the spiritual atmosphere of Mount Kailash, the mythological abode where Shiva is believed to reside in eternal meditation.
Daily Worship and Rituals
The temple maintains an active daily schedule of worship. Darshan—the viewing of the deity—is available from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm on Mondays, and from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm Tuesday through Sunday. Four aarti ceremonies (ritual offerings of light and prayers) take place each day: in the early morning from 5:30 to 6:30 am, mid-morning from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, evening from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, and late evening from 7:45 to 8:15 pm. Devotees can arrange special poojas (worship ceremonies) by contacting the temple office directly. The temple office can be reached at 022 23678367 or 022 23673602.
Festivals and Celebrations
The temple observes several significant festivals throughout the year. Karwa Chauth, typically observed in October, draws devotees who fast for the wellbeing of their spouses. Ugadi or Gudi Padwa, celebrated in March, marks the Hindu New Year in the Deccan and Maharashtra regions. Raksha Bandhan in August, which celebrates the bond between siblings, is also observed at the temple. During these festival days, the temple is typically more crowded and decorated more elaborately than on regular days.
