About Shri Vaijnath Temple

Located on a hilltop in Parli, the Shri Vaijnath Jyotirlinga Temple stands as one of India's most revered shrines to Lord Shiva. The temple showcases classical Hemadpanthi architecture and features brass-plated eastern doors. According to sacred tradition, this site holds special significance as devotees believe Lord Vishnu concealed the divine nectar and Dhanvantari within the Shiva Linga here, making it a destination for those seeking healing and spiritual strength. The structure visible today was restored by Queen Ahilyadevi Holkar in 1706, adding considerable historical value. Uniquely, devotees are permitted to directly touch and perform ablutions on the Shiva Linga itself. The temple observes daily rituals with morning abhishekam beginning at 5 AM, followed by various pujas throughout the day. Major festivals including Gudhipadwa, Shravan month celebrations, and Dussehra processions draw thousands of pilgrims annually.
