Srivari Padalu
About Srivari Padalu
Srivari Padalu crowns Narayanagiri hill and represents the spot where devotees believe Lord Venkateswara placed his divine feet upon first arriving at the Tirumala hills. The shrine houses revered footprints (padalu means feet in Sanskrit) preserved in rock, symbolizing the Lord's promise to remain close to his followers. Located approximately five kilometers from the main Sri Venkateswara temple, the shrine sits at the highest peak behind the main temple complex, offering sweeping views of the entire temple town and the surrounding Seshachalam forest range. The climb involves roughly three hundred steps from the road to reach the shrine. According to the Sri Venkateswara Mahatyam, the Lord touched down on Narayanagiri before proceeding to the main temple site on Venkatadri. The original rock relief has weathered over centuries, and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has undertaken protective and restoration measures to preserve this sacred site.
