About Sun Temple
Shree Somnath Temple stands at Prabhas Patan on the Arabian Sea coast, revered as the first among the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas in Hindu tradition. The temple holds profound spiritual significance as the site from which Lord Krishna departed to his celestial abode. The current temple structure was formally established through the Pran-Pratistha (consecration) ceremony conducted by Dr. Rajendra Prasad on May 11, 1951. The temple serves as a major pilgrimage destination offering daily pujas, special rituals including Bilva Puja and Vardhapan Puja, and comprehensive facilities for devotees such as accommodation, online darshan services, and various religious observances throughout the year.
