Swaminarayan Akshardham
About Swaminarayan Akshardham
Swaminarayan Akshardham represents the divine abode of God in Hindu tradition, serving as both a place of worship and a comprehensive spiritual campus. The complex was constructed by the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) and inspired by HH Yogiji Maharaj, with the vision realized by Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Built according to ancient architectural principles of Vastu Shastra and Pancharatra Shastra, the mandir houses murtis of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and his successors, alongside deities including Lord Krishna and Radha, Lord Rama and Sita, and Lord Shiva and Parvati. The construction involved over 300 million volunteer hours and more than 8,000 volunteers from across the world. Beyond the main mandir, the complex features exhibitions exploring Hinduism and Swaminarayan's teachings on prayer, compassion, and non-violence, along with thematic gardens, water features, a musical fountain, and a research institute. The spiritual philosophy emphasizes that each soul is potentially divine and that service to family, community, and all beings constitutes a path toward divinity.
